In 2000, a friend invited me to watch the Kentucky Derby with him and his fiancée at Rocky Mountain Greyhound Park in Colorado Springs. He taught me how to read the racing form, and we placed bets on races from across the country. With some luck, I managed to win an exacta and trifecta in one of the races, resulting in a $1,000 win—a significant amount at the time. This experience hooked me on thoroughbred racing.

My passion for the sport intensified when I moved to Central Arkansas after graduating from law school. I could now attend races live and in person at Oaklawn Park. I even managed to win the 2017 TwinSpires.com’s Kentucky Derby Dream Bet, which allowed me to bet $10,000 on someone else’s money on a single horse to win. Unfortunately, my chosen horse, CLASSIC EMPIRE, was eliminated at the gate and finished fourth.

To help people enjoy and succeed in thoroughbred racing, I founded ThorughLex. Whether it’s assisting owners in selecting and managing horses or providing support to trainers with their stable operations, everyone can benefit from a fresh perspective.

I also continue to practice law through Holleman & Associate, P.A., I represent owners, trainers, and jockeys in navigating the rules and regulations of the sport. I also assist in defending actions brought by HISA and HIWU.
